3:30 – 3:40 Class game

  • Letter or word bingo
  • Hangman (with words from current book being used)
  • Hot word (much like hot potatoe J )
  • Tuesday is Creative Writing presentation day!

3:40 – 4:10 Group lesson time

  • Review previous lesson
  • Visit new place at the Fun Family Fair
  • Games and song to practice the new lesson

Book Lesson time

  • Review sentences for the book
  • Review words used in the book
  • Reading the book
    • Children get involved in many fun ways to read the book being taught, several times before the book is sent home.

4:10 – 4:15 Stretch and Movement

  • Children love to practice yoga to relaxing music or
  • Get jumping with a “shake your sillies out” kind of song!

4:15 – 4:40 Table Work

  • Printing practice
  • Sentence printing
  • Drawing (in detail) a picture to accompany the sentence
  • Spelling practice
  • Group game
    • Guess the missing letter(s)
    • Alphabet jumble
    • Team challenges

4:40 – 4:50 Group time

  • Clean up table work area
  • Review homework for the day
  • Sharing thoughts and personal stories time

4:50 – 5:00 Novel reading!

** The children are exposed to the use of punctuation, fluency and expression in reading through listening to the teacher read age appropriate novels. Magic Tree House, Junie B. Jones and Charlottes Web are some of the novels presented.
